Embedded engineering for the energy sector
Firmware, electronics and connectivity for energy storage, charging infrastructure and power electronics - devices that must be secure, updatable and reliable for years.
Focus areas
Energy storage and BMS
Battery management firmware: measurement, balancing logic and communication.
EV charging
Charger controller firmware, communication and secure updates.
Inverters and power electronics
Control and monitoring firmware working with the hardware team.
Meters
Metering devices and their integration with industrial protocols.
Requirements
- Cybersecurity of connected installations and remote updates - see cybersecurity & CRA
- Field updates for devices that cannot be visited easily
- Long service life: component availability and maintenance planned for many years
Cyber Resilience Act for chargers, inverters and BMS
Connected energy devices - EV chargers, inverters, battery management systems and meters with a network or data interface - are products with digital elements under the Cyber Resilience Act. Since 11 September 2026 their manufacturers must report actively exploited vulnerabilities; from 11 December 2027 the essential requirements apply to new products placed on the EU market.
For devices that stay in service for a decade or more, the hard part is engineering: secure boot and signed OTA updates, an SBOM for every firmware release and a way to patch installations that are hard to reach. We build these into new designs and retrofit them into existing products through legacy modernization. Start with the free CRA checklist.
